World Diabetes Day celebrated at Aryans

 Fortis and Aryans organized a Webinar on "Diabetes- Prevention & Management"

Because of Diwali on 14th October, this day was celebrated a day before.




With the objectives of raising awareness about  different kinds  of diabetes & to prevent & manage them Aryans College of Pharmacy and Aryans Institute of Nursing, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh in association with Fortis Hospital, Mohali organized a webinar on “World Diabetes Day”. Dr. Sachin Mittal, Consultant- Endocrinology, Fortis Hospital interacted with the students of Engineering, Law, Management, Nursing, Pharmacy, B.Ed, Agriculture etc of Aryans. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the webinar.

Due to Diwali Festival on 14th Nov, the World's diabetes day was celebrated a day before. The students from various departments participated enthusiastically in all the activities organized by Aryans.

Dr. Mittal while interacting with students said that Type1, Type 2, Pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes Diabetes is caused when the level of sugar in your bloodstream increases due to insufficient production of insulin. The general symptoms of diabetes include increased hunger, increased thirst, weight loss, frequent urination, blurry vision, extreme fatigue & sores that don’t heal, he explained.

Mittal while interacting with the students said that the diabetic condition can be controlled by Being Active, Having a fiber rich diet, Including whole grains in your diet, Shedding the Extra Pounds  Choosing Healthy diets over Fad Diets. Mittal highlighted the vital role nurses in supporting people with diabetes.

A Poster presentation activity was organized on this occasion. Ekta Wadhra, Prince Raj, Amita, Anisha, Vikram, Sanjana, Md. Shamsher, Zafirul, Md Naushad, Md.Ehsan, Shahida & Sourabh from  B. Pharmacy, D. Pharmacy GNM & ANM participated & highlighted various aspects of Diabetes.

It is to mention that World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year to make people aware of the treatment, prevention, and symptoms on 14 November because of the birthday of Frederick Banting, who discovered insulin.  This day also emphasizes maintaining a healthy lifestyle and providing education regarding diabetes.
